Lieven, I takes 4 - 5 hours to merge partially filled 3490's to 1 9840. The 9840 has a nominal (uncompressed) capacity of 20GB, I don't know the capacity of the 3590's. Merging from 3480 will require more (4x?) tapemounts, unless they are full, so processing time might be even more.
You must define the 3590 units as DYNx units,to distinguishe them from the 3480, see the manual about handling different tapes and tapedevices. Check the MULTVOL parameter on the Merge statement to also process multivolume 3480 tapes. Kees.
