We have been completely tapeless for 6+ years. We keep a couple of 3490 drives on site for vendor tapes.
I have not had to send out a tape in probably 5 years. Most of my software vendors now send their data either on CDs/DVDs, or are available via FTP. Once all of them provide that capability, I will get rid of my real drives.
