Thanks. I'll check it out. SOMETHING has to do better than BPXBATCH. I
forgot to tell the whole story: 

BPXBATCH will happily "accept" STDIN DD * but it simply ignores it. Pretends
you never coded it. It puts a message out to STDERR to say I did not specify
a shell so it's going to use the default shell, but did not think it was
worth mentioning that "you coded STDIN but I'm going to pretend you did
not."
