I've gone with three (large) locals, minimum for almost 20 of my 30 years in the field. I've only seen two large systems (3000+ MIPS) that needed more. One went to 5 locals, which we clawed back one after we went 64-bit and added more memory, than was previously possible. The best page I/O is still the one that doesn't happen. - Too busy driving to stop for gas! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
