But think of a everyday, not to say everyminute command where You - as described by You above - have to go through a two-step process ? This would be fully acceptable by old standards, but today the standard of userfriendlyness/effectiveness is on a much higher level - AFAICS. I think the UNIX/LINUX shells is setting the bar now. Of course - You maybe is arguing from a standpoint of a viable solution in a closed or restricted environment (whether by authority or resource means). But I think it still is a hard sell...
