FTP and SFTP applications use these documented well known ports. By using the appropriate well know ports, allows these application to work as design and reduce connection issues like you are seeing. My question is what is wrong with the one machine? Did something ask for or define a secure connection and the server doesn't have an SFTP active? I would focus on the one machine rather than change all the rest.
