As noted in another thread, the question is really is it better to run
EGL generated COBOL or EGL generated Java which brings in some
interesting other questions.  If all of the true source in the shop is
in EGL and languages other than COBOL, using Java would allow
elimination of the licenses for COBOL and runtimes.  If everything
online is in EGL then it might be possible to move from CICS to
Websphere.  Since EGL is descended from CSP (Cross System Product I
think) and CSP version 4 generated horrific COBOL code this is an open
question.  Depending on the business and what the code is doing, there
are a number of possibilities.  Of course personally unless EGL is A
LOT BETTER than CSP, I would want to ditch EGL.
