Sure, you could do that. Adam Thornton did it on an MP3000 a decade ago. 
Performance was...suboptimal :-)

But I'm quite sure IBM isn't talking about emulation. That doesn't make any 
sense for them. I'm sure they're talking about zBX, because the pre-announce 
user group discussions all mentioned System x and now it's "not until next 
year". So the next question is, "Will that be Linux on x or Windows?"
