I would prefer to run all JES's at the same level, but agree with Mark that unless one "slam dunks" maintenance and upgrades on all systems simultaneously, it's unlikely to happen. At the request of our developers, in a four-way Sysplex, we run three systems at N and one at N-1. In six years we haven't seen a JES problem due to the release level.
