There are strengths in both, and applications for both. The decision to host an application on a particular platform is an "it depends" business decision that varies from shop to shop. You can be a sysprog for both z/os AND Windows. Much of the "instability" of the Windows platform is related to the maint practices of it's administrators, not the platform itself. Those practices are relatively immature, compared to 40+ years of MVS experience. How many unscheduled IPLs did you have 30 years ago? You can do a lot to improve the stability of Windows in your shop by sharing some of the reliability practices used in the administration of z/os. -Rob ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
