Hi, In a post on this topic Charles Mills wrote:

Does the DSCB-1 differentiate between Primary and Secondary requests? Combined DSCB-1 and DSCB-2 will hold 16 extents worth of information. Surely there is no need to hold a specific primary quantity as the request will have been satisfied in up to 5 extents depending upon whether CONTIG has been specified or not. The converse of course is that the secondary request, needs to be held to allow for growth up to the 16 extents limit of the DSCB-1/2 pair for a volume. Does ISPF actually report a definite valued, or does it calculate a value based on the first n extents? I seem to recall reading somewhere that some component did this but Virtual Memory has gotten to that stage where I can neither remember the component or where I read it.
