The union electrician tried the contacts pairwise with a voltmeter; 208 volts for each pair. Perfectly in spec; no problem recognized. In New York, you don't argue with the shop steward. Bob went in off-shift and rewired the outlet.
The CDC mainframes were liquid cooled.
