Batch COBOL programs at our site access SQL Server databases by using EXCI to call CICS programs, which in turn call web services that access the SQL Server database.
Admittedly, this is not "issuing some SQL" in the batch program. On the other hand, if you already have CICS, there is nothing to buy. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu] On Behalf Of Jim McAlpine Sent: Friday, May 06, 2011 6:02 AM To: IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu Subject: COBOL to SQL server cross posted to DB2 list. Does anyone know if it is possible to issue some SQL from a batch COBOL program running on z/OS to an SQL Server database.
