Hi Sonny,

I do not thing it is a config issue. It appears to be a case crashed
DASD. What is the wait state code?
Are you able to access/browse vol 200 from any other system..do you have
an alternate res vol / L1 ready?

Regards,

Rajesh

Subject: Unit Check While IPL'ng from DS6800

Hello,
We have recently installed a DS6800 and it was working until Friday and
DS6800 went down hard after a power hit on Friday evening.

After powering it back on Saturday morning, we are unable to IPL from
our z9 as we are receiving a " A UNIT CHECK WAS DETECTED". There are no
other messages on z9. No error messages on DS6800. Below is IOCDS
Config:

We are running z/OS 1.12. We are not aware of any changes to IOCDS or
the DS6800 for past couple of weeks.

CHPID PATH=(CSS(0),10),SHARED, *

CHPID PATH=(CSS(0),A1),SHARED, *
               PARTITION=((LPAR1,LPAR2,LPAR3),(=)),PCHID=110,TYPE=FC

IODEVICE ADDRESS=(0200,256),CUNUMBR=(1100),STADET=Y,UNIT=3390

               UNITADD=((00,256)),CUADD=02,UNIT=1750
IODEVICE ADDRESS=(1200,256),CUNUMBR=(3200),STADET=Y,UNIT=3390
CNTLUNIT CUNUMBR=1300,PATH=((CSS(0),10,11,A1,A2)), *

IODEVICE ADDRESS=(3300,256),CUNUMBR=(3300),STADET=Y,UNIT=3390

The LCU Definitions on DS6800 are as below:

LCUID SSID LCU TYPE Volumes Addresses Used
00 0003 3390 Mod 6 0 0
01 0001 3390 Mod 6 144 144
02 0004 3390 Mod 6 0 0
03 0002 3390 Mod 6 15 15

I have read earlier post of LCU ID matching CUADD in CTNTLUNIT Defs. I
have spent three trying to debug this problem and any suggestions would
be appreciated.

We are IPL'ng from ADDRESS: 0200 Which is in CNTLUNIT: 1100 -- CUADD
- 01 --- LCU - 01

I am willing to have someone login remotely to review configuration or
work with me on telephone to run any type of tests...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sonny Gupta
