You don't have to use LPA for DFSORT.  We don't.

To install DFSORT we had to add SICELINK & SORTLPA to LINKLIST and APF
on all of the LPARs. 
We also added SYS1.SICELPA to LPA which contains only the SVC ESR
IGX00017 BD0 in length.

The addition of DFSORT as a DB2 only sort was not a VSCR problem.  Like
many things there was more smoke than
heat once you actually understood what needed to be done.  

My only minor concern is that I now need to monitor the use of DFSORT
and we may eventually have to customize ICEMAC further.  So far we are
running with the defaults.
