I have always wondered why the JES2 developers always seem to move things around so much - offsets for major control block pointers seem to alter with every release. Is this done because they have delivered the source and it is more difficult to provide that extra layer of insulation between API and main processing or it is a deliberate policy decision to not go that extra mile for compatability?
