Ok, I - think - I have answered my own question. I went back to 'Setting
up a Sysplex' and the format change I remembered being mentioned (back when
I installed Z/OS 1.4) has to do with system-managed duplexing rebuild -
(ITEM NAME(SMDUPLEX) NUMBER(1). This only applies to systems with a
coupling facility. NOT my situation. So I guess all is well with my old
stuff.
