Thanks to all for the responses.

1) I've spoken to work and they've allowed me to access this forum as long
as no traceable info is involved (I work for a very large UK Bank and there
are some tough laws about what can and can't be shared (they take the view
that nothing should). At least it won't take me a week to get back to you
guys.

2) SSM hasn't run since April which in itself isn't so bad as this HSM is
on a Data Mover system so there isn't that much activity that needs
migration. MCDS shows 6% full. If SSM didn't run because it was below the
threshold, wouldn't i expect a ARC0518 message to say it ended
successfully. I thought it always started at the preset time and just sat
there doing nothing if it was below threshold (I'm probably wrong). We
always used to get the message and i don't think the levels have ever
reached 70%.

3) I'll pass the APAR info to our sysprogs and see if it's been noted. (I'm
a lowly Storage Analyst with a couple of years sysproging back in the day -
who's been out of the office for 4 years).

If someone can confirm that we wouldn't expect any sort of message if SSM
decides not to run due to the threshold not being reached, then the job's a
good'un and i can sign it off. Even better, point me to where i can see it
myself (not disbelieving - i love searching through manuals - it's amazing
what you learn whilst trying to solve a problem (about other stuff as i
never seem to find the answer i was actually looking for)

Many thx,

Joe J
