Not specifically, but I've had a much better *user* experience with FireFox
(2.0.0.2) vs IE (at 6.5) on our HMC's w/z9-EC's.
If your installation allows, you might give it a shot; I haven't tried IE
7, but I suspect it might also be an improvement over 6.x.
My issue was with SAD tasks, not ending/popping up blank IE windows.

Since someone brought up the z9/z880 HMC issue - I have a question for
someone else who might have run into this same issue I am having.
In using a web browser for remote access to one of our remote z9-BC's HMC.
Whenever I attempt to perform a function (Activate, Deactivate, Logoff,
etc.), it shows on the icon "highlighted" like it did something, but it
doesn't
come back with a pop-up. I have to go back to the original "Welcome"
screen
and click on "Log on and launch the Hardware Management Console web
application." again, and then the open browser will "move". Every time I
perform a function in order to get the result I have to go back and click
on
the "launch Hardware Management Console" link.
When we first installed the BC it did not perform this way (back in
January). I
am assuming that there were some software updates to our desktops or
maybe particularly our web browsers (IE 6.0) that makes this happen. I
even
added it to the "allow pop ups" list, to no avail.
Has someone run into this and has anyone done something to make this not
happen?
Thanks in advance,
Pat L.
