There is a limited number of Microsoft Windows-only shops. For a shop that has any UNIX, bridge crossed. UNIX isn't a monolithic entity, so people with UNIX skills already have to be slightly nimble. Linux is certainly inspired by UNIX and has extremely close operational characteristics. It feels like a flavor of UNIX, even though it has a different code origin. For some evidence of this, consider this Web site: http://www.extension.ucr.edu/certificates/unix-systems.html In other words, UC Riverside doesn't even distinguish between the two for its certification program, just lumping them together as "UNIX/Linux." For 100% Microsoft Windows shops, I think you do have a point, but even in that small universe things are changing. - - - - - Timothy Sipples IBM Consulting Enterprise Software Architect Specializing in Software Architectures Related to System z Based in Tokyo, Serving IBM Japan and IBM Asia-Pacific E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
