There are advantages and disadvanntages of any software installation and maintenance methodology. Many products need a data set included in the LinkList. I prefer that all such data sets be cataloged in the master catalog. That means that, unless the HLQ is SYS1, you have to have a shaed master catalog. Not everyone does. In order to provide a consistant set of data sets for users, dataset aliases with SYMBILICRELATE can be used. Every time you install a new version, it has to be cataloged in the master catalog. Some of us prefer that the master catalog be less volatile than that. You still haven't said why you "don't think SYSALLDA is appropriate." That's especially confusing when you say that you like SYSDA or DISK. What do you think SYSALLDA means? Your reply to mark's question said you're "just afraid when there are holes in the ACS routines." That doesn't sound like someone who believes in using SMS. -- Tom Marchant ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
