In COBOL? Someone else showed an example of the offsets and it wasn't simple either. I am not suggesting its impossible just a little more than simple it isn't. IIRC it was not possible in EASYTREV at least the version I had. SAS I know it can be done because that is what the perf. cap. people use. I have never been able to get the hang of SAS, but that is just me. Assembler, of course but for a quick and dirty that is probably not an option. Almost any report writer it probably would be difficult as they tend (IMO) not to be able to handle such records. I have little doubt you can do it in rexx but how many people would be able to debug it (if need be).
