Lizette,

I can answer some of your questions. If a DB2 Group Bufferpool structure
is rebuilt it will go to the alternate CF from its preference list.
However, the messages you listed do not include and DSN** messages. Is
it possible that you are using z/OS CF duplexing? If so, I would
recommend that you not use z/OS CF duplexing and instead let DB2 do its
own Structure duplexing.
This looks like this in the policy.

STRUCTURE NAME(DSNDBA0_GBP8)
   INITSIZE(6144)
   SIZE(11264)
   ALLOWAUTOALT(YES)
   FULLTHRESHOLD ( 70 )
   REBUILDPERCENT(1)
   DUPLEX ( ALLOWED )
   PREFLIST(CF4LP1,CF2)
   ENFORCEORDER(YES)

If I am mistaken and you are using DB2 duplexing and not z/OS then my
apologies.

Subject: How Structure REBUILD Really Works

List -

I have been working with the manuals last night, but am not getting a
really
clear picture on structure rebuild and preference list with duplexing in
the
CF.

I have a DB2 group buffer pool whose preference list is STRA, STRB.
Group
owning node name XB0P, Members: XB1P and XB2P.

At some point I an IXL/IXC messages indicating a rebuild process has
been
initiated.

My question: Do DB2 GBP structures start out in one CF and sometimes
wind
up in a different CF if there is duplexing? If there is a rebuild
process
can it change which CF is preferred?
