You can't just use NTP to sync the time clock on z/OS because it changes the
time instantaneously! No problem if you jump forward, but if you jump
backward at the same time that DB2 is rolling out an abended transaction,
you're likely to have a corrupted database. STP and the Sysplex Timer
before it gradually speeds up or slows down the TOD clock so that any
journaled/logged products, CICS, DB2, IMS, IDMS, etc, can count on the
integrity of the TOD clock. If you want to use NTP, knock yourself out.
You're playing with fire, and likely to get burned.
