Thanks.  I had known of the HMC optical drive, and that VM, but not z/OS
can mount it as a filesystem.  I hadn't known it could be an IPL device.

(I suppose one should be cautious concerning stressing any part of the
HMC.  It's a component one doesn't want to break.)

Perhaps I read more than the OP intended by "No tapes or DVDs".
(I never assumed they'd be unavailable, but that they'd be
unnecessary.)
