Wow - you hadn't used the drives for 3 years and they actually worked when you brought them online! When I was at P&H, we had 2 3420s left until about a year before the datacenter closed.
My experience with those old IBM drives was the rubber hoses tended to get dryed out and crack. I know we had 2 of them until they were taken out.
