What I was trying to convey was that toggling the lock has absolutely nothing to do with the issue I've described in this thread -- namely an annoying password prompt being used to confirm a disruptive action.
Disruptive actions are not allowed for locked objects. You can't get far enough along with a locked object to see *any* prompt at all! All you get is an error message.
