I am a bit surprised I believe there is a confusion between NTP and SNTP When I implemented time consistency across systems years ago , z/OS was providing a NTP daemon but it was next to impossible to find NTP clients for Unix or Windows . So the NTP server was useless . Luckily Ken Clapp had written a SNTP server for z/OS and it was easy to use SNTP client ( you could even find freeware for Windows client ) ( i used a Dynamic VIPA for it) Then later on, z/OS TCP/IP provided a SNTP daemon, and we replaced Ken Clapp code with the official IBM SNTP daemon. ( z/OS 1.2 perhaps i am not sure) It was thanks to Ken that we could do it long before.
