I have a similar need, but I'm on one z9BC with four monoplex LPARs. My current 4 hour average is around 19 MSU at the peak of the batch window. We have no problem getting all batch done at night. My daytime peaks for online (The stuff that matters to most users) are around 14 to 15 MSU. I'd like to CAP such that the Batch takes longer and the peak is lower. Can I do this in a non-sysplex world?
