Only IBM's largest customers truly exploit it and leverage the 24 x 7 continuous application availability it can provide. I have no real numbers to back this up (I doubt anyone other than IBM does), but I'm going by personal experience from consulting and contacts I have made in this field over the years. Of course, more and more now it's only the larger customers sticking with z/OS on the mainframe, so the percentages have probably changed a little this decade.
