Here is what i have put together for myself - should work for DS8K also:

Delete all alias devices from the ESS specialist/DS8000 CLI
PAVs will not be able to be used until the reconfiguration is completed .
Issue V,xxx,ONLINE,UNCOND for all PAV devices
The command above will force an IO to the alias device which no longer
exists on the ESS/DS8000
and will unbind the alias allowing HCD to delete it dynamically.
Activate new IODF
The activation of the new IODF will delete any alias devices and define
the new base devices in their place.
Add new devices using ESS specialist or DS8000 CLI/GUI
The new base devices can be added and will become available once this is
done.
Add alias devices using ESS specialist or DS8000 CLI/GUI
The new alias devices can then be added and will become available once
this is done.

And the link to a WP which decribes the process very well (also for 2105
but mostly valid)

Aliases
