The ZFS containing /Z13/usr/lpp/zWebSphereOEM/V7R0/bin directory was on a volume with plenty of free space. When I tried applying the ptf, the scripts ended with error. To me it looked like the script was creating a list of all files in /Z13/usr/lpp/zWebSphereOEM/V7R0/bin, and then deleting them one by one. Since this is a large list, the file containing it was large, and that's what caused the space error.

Specifically you showed output from running shell script BBN7DSCR. /tmp and SMPWKDIR have nothing to do with APPLY or running the shell script. /tmp and SMPWKDIR are used for RECEIVE FROMNET and ORDER.
