When I download from Redbooks, using Windows 7, I get a xxxxxx.epub file stored. I process it with Calibre. You can read it with Calibre or, as I do, move it to my Kindle (Calibre will convert it to the proper format). Works great.

I see where many publications are available for download in EPUB format.
There were some implied promises about to being able to get these at some
future date from itunes.
I can even see on the RedBooks website how they have been testing using iOS
(I am assuming Apple devices)

What I do not see is how to get these EPUBs onto a computing platform
(Apple or not) so that they can be read.

When I download from the EPUB link on the Redbooks webpage, I get a folder
full of XML and other files. I am still searching for an app to read it.
My end goal is to be able to read it on an iPod/iPad device, but at this
point would settle for just being able to open it and read it.

Adobe Digital Editions says it is an EPUB reader, but no joy so far with
the IBM redbooks.

Any suggestions? ( I never thought I would get nostalgic for a simple
PDF file)
