The following eBay seller has several IBM mainframes available for sale in Minnesota:
http://stores.ebay.com/Simon-Systems-Inc-IBM-Parts Among the more interesting ones are a ~25 MIPS System z10 BC listed at $35,000 (which would be eligible for zELC licensing and which has a full capacity of 3 MSUs), a ~50 MIPS z890 listed at $9,999, and a ~46 MIPS z890 also listed at $9,999. Shipping seems to be free within the U.S. and doable elsewhere (though not free). They've also got some z900s, z800s, and older models, although I personally wouldn't go that old for my home mainframe, and the prices probably aren't attractive enough compared to the z890s. The z10 BC can run every current release of IBM software, including z/VM 6.1 and 6.2. Surprise your favorite geek -- maybe yourself? -- with the gift of a mainframe this holiday season.
