It is not a dumb question. The OP said 'one of the TSO user compressed the PDS dataset ...'. But it is somewhat ambiguous. It is not really clear how the compression was done: in batch or TSO? TSO is supposed to allocate SYSUT3 and SYSUT4, unless you have it badly configured somewhere. I have tested 'Z' on an old PDS and looked in my TSO joblog: IGD101I SMS ALLOCATED TO DDNAME (SYSUT3 ) IGD101I SMS ALLOCATED TO DDNAME (SYSUT4 ) >Did you have the SYSUT3 and SYSUT4 DDs specified? If so, were they specified >in CYL not TRK, and with NO secondary, and CONTIG? These are good questions! I would like to see what the answer is. >Given the size that you have said this PDS is, I would fully expect IEBCOPY to >have needed the SPILL datasets in order to do the compress (even with 1600 or >fewer directory blocks). Spill should be smaller then Exxon Valdez spill or BP spill. ;-) Groete / Greetings Elardus Engelbrecht ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
