It's rare but a ++ZAP circumvents a problem that the customer is experiencing. 
If the workaround is for a very specific situation, restricting the change to a 
specific LMOD may be necessary.

I suspect that alias names are limited to 8 because IBM added SYMLINK for long 
name support needed by UNIX.
