Ah. So for PS or PO it has no advantage over DCB=dsname. Perhaps for SPACE?
A lot of advantages including DSNTYPE (LARGE, EXTPREF - previously not
available in JCL, only DC), PDSE compression, encryption, VSAM EA, etc.
Last, but not least: it is CONVENIENT.
I it just convenient to create new dataset "same as A.B.C".
