The first queston to ask yourself is:  Do you really need features that are unique to Outlook?. There are some very good email client alternatives to Outlook, some completely free (e.g.,Thunderbird).

I have always preferred the desktop-only versions of Office to the forced integration with MS cloud storage that comes with Office365, and I especially dislike annual subscription licenses for PC software.   If you just need a more recent version of Outlook, you can probably find Office 2021, and even Office 2024 with Outlook, at reduced prices.

Depending on why you need MS Office, you may also want to check out completely-free LibreOffice, which has much of the same functional capability and a high, but not 100%, read/write compatibility with native MS Office file formats.  Because of different internal design choices,  a few features don't migrate well between MS Office and LibreOffice; but this is mostly seen in formatting differences, not content.  MS Office is probably a little more solid product, but in some cases I find the functionality of LibreOffice superior to MS Office.  There is no conflict in using both on the same PC.
