Data centers were part for the real world. ATS and RUNOFF may seem
primitive to me today, but they were improvements over having to
retype in order to make changes. Similarly, perforated paper[1] tape
may seem painfully slow, but at the time it was an improvement over
the available alternatives. So I'd have to say mid to late 1960's.
[1] FSVO paper that includes mylar.
