In the late 70's this was termed "IMPL," for initial microprogram load. It was later shortened to "IML." I never paid attention to whether "microprogram" sometimes became "microcode" in the acronym, or in which contexts. Both terms remain in our books, and both are defined here:

As you can see, both "microcode" and "microprogram" seem to be in use for the "M" in "IML."
