If you have File Manager at your shop you can find and replace quite 
easily like shown below.

//STEP0100 EXEC PGM=FILEMGR 
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=* 
//MYPDS    DD DISP=SHR,DSN=Your PDS to be updated/replaced
//SYSIN    DD * 
$$FILEM FCH INPUT=MYPDS 
C '$REPLACEME$' 'Updated string'
