the DFSMS storage Admin guide helps 'setting up' SMS because that's basically what your doing, at the very least I think you'll need a storage class routine with a small Filterlist (maybe) and a SELECT WHEN that passes a NULL storage class SELECT WHEN (&some criteria is met) < ----- this never gets met set &STORCLAS = &STORCALS
