It deletes, because it's a direct replacement, same dataset names, same 
programs, etc.    I've never needed to backout a version, but read the program 
directory closely.   It doesn't happen with every release, but in a few there 
have been toleration/conditioning PTF's for the -1 version to allow it to 
co-exist with the new version in a multisystem environment.  Those toleration 
PTF's need to be on all systems before introducing the new version onto the 
first system in the sysplex.   If you are strictly monoplex then there probably 
are no concerns.

Your backout ought to be re-iping to prior version of the operating sysres with 
HCR77C0 on it.
