If any Real Programmers are around at 9 AM, it's because they were up all night. so can concentrate and avoid interruptions from co-workers and phone calls. older trivia: as undergraduate, about a year after taking two semester hr intro to fortran/computers, I was hired fulltime to be responsible for univ. academic and administration os/360 systems.
