I think that products such as abend aid get control only when an abdump occurs.
z/OS is configured not to take an abdump on a cancel unless you ask for one. This is accomplished via the SLIP trap SLIP SET,C=222,ID=X222,A=NODUMP,END within IEASLP00. CANCEL with DUMP results in completion code 122 so does not match that SLIP trap.
