The product was discontinued on 12/31/1995. It looks to be the code that would produce AFP type files for 3820 type printers from Postscript input. So, if you don't have any 3820's or 4250's or things like that around, you probably don't need it.

Hi,

Our VM product list shows that we have 5688-104 installed on our VM
system.  I can not find the product in our SES, and I could not find a
Program Directory on the IBM site.  Does anyone have a list of the
EXECS/MODULES that came with this product.  I want to see if we are really
using it.
