Respectfully, I couldn't locate SMTPNOTE on the IBM VM download libraray page.
I've downloaded MAILIT and have tried to use it, but so far it's winning, i.e.,I'm doing something wrong, not supplying
enough info for it to work, etc.
If I understand the MAILIT HELP correctly, I should be able to use the following format:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
When I use this format I get:
mailit to([EMAIL PROTECTED]) file(casey file)
MAILIT: We need some data from file "DISTRIB NAMES". Find that file.
So I rename the sample DISTRIB to DISTRIB NAMES, I get
mailit to([EMAIL PROTECTED]) file(casey file)
MAILIT: :nick.NETVARS, tag :MemoDg. invalid in "DISTRIB NAMES" Required format:
node=dg. <node2=dg2.> ...
The file: CASEY FILE contains:
<file>
HELO VM.LLIC.COM
MAIL FROM: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
RCPT TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
DATA
DATE: 09/27/2006 14:29 EDT
TO: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
FROM: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
SUBJECT: Work Request CCTEST..
test message to check MAILIT
.
QUIT
</file>
This will be the format of the file I sendfile to SMTP. I want to be able to send this out, via SMTP, plus have
a file attached to it.

We hashed this one over recently; check the list archives for the gory details, but the summary version was:
1) Use MAILBOOK (best solution but costs a small amount)
2) Use SMTPNOTE from the VM Download Library (free, but somewhat limited)
3) Use SENDFILE (limited, but supplied on the system)
XMITIP may also work, but haven't tried it recently. It had some TSOisms that didn't translate well last time I tried it.

Hello. Is it possible to some how attach a file to an email sent out
using VM's SMTP server?
Thanks,
Steve
