If vendor-provided solutions are still on the table (even though having SL support in DDR and even VMFPLC2, is still a worthwhile objective), consider Safe Software's (http://www.safesoftware.com/) lower-cost product: SAFEDR. They've presented at SHARE several times regarding D.R., and provide SAFEDR as a means to produce (modified) DDR-created SL tapes.
Can you imagine having VMFPLC2 handle SL tapes and receiving SL tapes for IBM z/VM product distribution and service? What a reduction in guessing during installation and maintenance for those without direct access to tape drives! :-) Mike Walter Hewitt Associates The information contained in this e-mail and any accompanying documents may contain information that is confidential or otherwise protected from disclosure.
