If you use IBM Tape Manager for z/VM, then Tape Manager will interact wit
h 
your ATLs or VTSs using RMS on VM.  The catalog can then be either of the
 
following:
- a catalog on VM managed by Tape Manager (if you want VM to have its own
 
catalog), or
- the RMM catalog on z/OS (if you want to use RMM as both your z/OS and 

z/VM tape catalog.)  In this configuration, Tape Manager will communicate
 
with RMM on z/OS for catalog related requests, then communicate with RMS 

on VM for device interaction.
