Alan - thank you - that resolved my challenge.

If I had RSCS this would not have been an issue and setting up SMTP would 
have required more 'paperwork' to register a new SMTP sender in the 
network. This now works for the limited use that I plan to use it for.

I didn't know you could "print" file to SMTP.  Since it is apparently 
already in BSMTP format, can't you just PUNCH (NOHEADER it to the VM SMTP 
server?

z/OS LPD added the carriage control.  I confirmed by using the same 
options and performing a wireshark trace on my workstation.

Try "RECFMU" instead of "PRINTER".  PRINTER specifically adds a blank for 
carriage control.
